It’s 26c and it’s April. Totally unseasonal for the Melbourne climate. As equally cliche as it is depressing to say - time has flown. Days spent lying beside the ocean in the summer warmth seem like they were yesterday. With the change in season I started thinking about a new shoot that I really wanted to do for our current collection. As you may know, we take a lot of inspiration from the ocean, but more recently I have been so appreciative of the beauty in flora.
Being inside a cold room filled with bunches of blooming beauties was mesmerising. In the end, the chill of the cold room put the pressure on and the outcome was a collection of pink, lime, white, maroon and lilac petalled flora fronds. Carrying away such a huge bunch of pretty flowers felt amazing which reinforces how good nature is in boosting endorphins and evoking happiness. If only one could have these many flowers to live amongst all the time!
The best thing about creating this shoot was the urgency in executing it. Being a small brand, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed with all of the ‘urgent’ things - the e-mails, the orders, the social media postings...but in this case creating an excellent floral shoot was the number one priority because literally its now or never...these flowers will be sad and droopy tomorrow!
